Alekseev, Mikhail Vasilievich (1857–1918)

Russian general. He was twice appointed Chief of Staff, under the supreme commanders in chief Nicholas II (1915) and Kerenski (1917), with a brief period inbetween as commander-in-chief of all Russian armies. In 1918 he organized in the Kuban region the first anti-Bolshevik volunteer army.
