Aleutian Range

Mountain chain in Alaska. Starting at the far western extremity of the Alaska Range, the Aleutian Range is an continuation of the Coast Ranges, and extends southwest for around 1,000 km/600 mi along the Alaska Peninsula and the Aleutian Islands. It is composed mainly of semi-active volcanoes.

Notable peaks in the Aleutian Range include (from north–south): Redoubt (3,108 m/10,197 ft) and Iliamna (3,053 m/10,016 ft) in the Chigmit Mountains subrange; Katmai (2,047 m/6,715 ft); Aniakchak Crater (1,356 m/4,450 ft); Veniaminof (2,690 m/8,825 ft); and Pavlof (2,504 m/8,215 ft). Ten Thousand Smokes, Novarupta Volcano, and Mount Douglas (2,153 m/7,064 ft) all lie within Katmai National Park and Preserve on the peninsula, while Redoubt and Iliamna are situated in Lake Clark National Park and Preserve, at the range's northern end.
