Alexander, Boyd (1873-1910)

British explorer, born at Cranbrook, in Kent, who took part in the Alexander-Gosling expedition of 1904-07, which crossed Africa from the Niger to the Nile. In 1909 Alexander began his last journey. After passing Lake Chad in safety at Wadai, just on the borders of the British sphere of influence in the Sudan, he was attacked and killed by local warriors.
