Alexander, De Alva Standwood (1845-1925)

US representative and historian. A member of the Ohio Volunteer Infantry during the Civil War, he was a teacher and newspaperman in Indiana before becoming a lawyer in 1877. Alexander became Republican congressman for Buffalo, New York in 1897. He wrote a three-volume Political History of the State of New York (1906-09).
