Alfonso und Estrella

Opera by Schubert (libretto by F von Schober), composed 1821–22, but never performed in Schubert's lifetime. It was first produced by Liszt at Weimar, Germany, on 24 June 1854, with an overture by Anton Rubinstein. Schubert's original version was premiered at Graz, Austria, on 28 September 1991. The story tells how Alfonso gains the throne and marries Estrella, the daughter of his father's enemy.
