Alford, Andrew

Alford, Andrew (1904–1992)

Russian-born electrical engineer and inventor. His main work involved the development of antennae for radio navigation and instrument landing systems. His best-known invention is the ‘Alford Loop’ antenna.

Alford graduated from the University of California in 1924 and held engineering posts at Harvard and in private industry.
