| The Alhambra opened in Leicester Square in 1854, but was burned down and rebuilt in Moorish style in 1882. It was a highly successful music hall at the end of the nineteenth century, and later staged revue and ballet. In 1936 it was demolished and the Odeon cinema was built on the site. |

Founded in 1881, it has diverse industries, including the manufacture of aircraft and electronic components.
