Alcmaeon

In Greek mythology, son of Amphiaraus. At his father's command, he and his brother Amphilochus killed their mother Eriphyle. Pursued by the Erinyes (Furies), he fled to Psophis where he was purified by King Phegeus and married his daughter. But the land of Psophis was unfruitful and Alcmaeon moved on to the country later known as Acarnania and married Callirhoe. Phegeus discovered Alcmaeon's faithlessness to his daughter and had him killed.
