Allen, Henry Robinson (1809–1876)

Irish baritone. He first became known in London in 1842 when he sang Damon in a performance of Acis and Galatea at Drury Lane and made a great reputation as an operatic artist, but retired early to devote himself to teaching and the composition of songs, including ‘When we two parted’.
