Allen County

County in northeast Indiana, USA, bounded to the east by Ohio; area 1,707 sq km/659 sq mi; population (1990) 300,800. Its administrative headquarters is Fort Wayne, which, with its suburbs, forms an industrial concentration at the county's centre. It is traversed by the Maumee, St Joseph, Little Wabash, Eel, and St Mary's rivers, and is an agricultural region, producing grains, corn, soybeans, livestock, and dairy items.

County in northwest Ohio, USA; area 1,049 sq km/405 sq mi; population (1990) 109,800. It is intersected by the Ottawa and Auglaize rivers. Its administrative headquarters and largest town is Lima, a manufacturing centre. Diversified farming, including grain, poultry, soybeans, and livestock, is important. Limestone is quarried in the area.
