Allport, Gordon (Willard) (1897–1967)

US psychologist. Allport's innovative approaches to human psychology included the use of individual's personal writings and artistic creations. His most influential work was Personality: A Psychological Interpretation (1937), revised as Patterns and Growth in Personality (1961). He was awarded the American Psychological Foundation's gold medal in 1963.
