Tokyo, Japan, Oct 24, 2005 - (JCNN) - NOEVIR has discovered a
unique property of alpinia zerumbet (shell ginger), a kind of herbal
plant from the Amami Islands, Kagoshima. This newly discovered synchronized gender swap in nine species of
the genus Alpinia reduces the risk of inbreeding, say Qing-Jun Li of the
Chinese Academy of Sciences in Mengla and his colleagues. |
