Altadena

Town in Los Angeles County, southwest California, USA; population (1990) 42,700. It is located immediately north of Pasadena, on the lower south slopes of the San Gabriel Mountains, in an orange and avocado growing area. It was established in 1887, and is home chiefly to Pasadena and Los Angeles commuters. Altadena is known for Christmas Tree Lane, part of Santa Rosa Avenue, where giant deodars (Asian cedars) are decorated with lights during the Christmas period.
