Altamont

Hamlet in Alameda County, north-central California, USA; population (1990) 76,500. It is situated 11 km/7 mi northeast of Livermore, near the summit of Altamont Pass, site of a windpower complex involving thousands of electricity-generating propellers. At a notorious 1969 rock concert here featuring the Rolling Stones, a spectator was murdered by Hell's Angels.

Town in Klamath County, southwest Oregon, USA; population (1990) 18,600. It is a residential suburb immediately southeast of Klamath Falls.
