Alte Pinakothek

Art gallery in Munich, Germany. It is rich in examples of old German painting and early Netherlandish and Flemish painting. Mathias Grünewald's Christ Mocked, Rembrandt's Entombment, and Sandro Botticelli's Pietà are among its exhibits.

The gallery was built early in the 19th century by Ludwig I to house the existing ducal collections, to which Ludwig added a fine collection of altarpieces.
