Alto Paraguay
| Department in the Oriental region of northeast Paraguay, bordered to the east by Brazil along the River Paraguay, and to the north and northeast by Bolivia; area 37,000 sq km/14,286 sq mi; population (1992) 11,800. The department includes part of the frequently flooded Chaco plain. The capital is Puerte Olimpo. |
