Alwar

City in Rajasthan, India, 135 km/90 mi southwest of Delhi, chief town of the district (formerly princedom) of the same name; population (2001) 260,200. It has palaces, temples, and tombs. Flour milling and trade in cotton goods and millet are major occupations.
