Amadis

Opera by Jean-Baptiste Lully (libretto by Philippe Quinault, based on the old Iberian romance Amadis de Gaula), first produced at the Paris Opéra, France, on 18 January 1684. The plot describes the adventures of Amadis in his attempt to win the doubting heart of Oriane.

Also an opera by Massenet (libretto by J Claretie), composed about 1895 and performed posthumously in Monte Carlo on 1 April 1922.
