Amalaric (c. 502–531)

Visigoth king of Spain. He was only five years old when his father Alaric II was killed in 507, but he was proclaimed king when he came of age. He married Clotilda, daughter of Clovis, King of the Franks, but the marriage led to religious disputes and a war with Childebert, King of Paris, the brother of Clotilda. The Spaniards were defeated 531, and Amalaric was killed.
