In November 2002, Galileo will venture closer to Jupiter than ever before, coming within 500 km of its tiny moon Amalthea, which is less than one-tenth Io's size.
As it neared Io, the craft also captured portraits of Metis, Amalthea, and Thebe, three of Jupiter's small, innermost moons.
