Amaterasu

In Japanese mythology, the sun goddess, grandmother of Jimmu Tenno, first ruler of Japan, from whom the emperors claim to be descended. Her shrine is at Ise.

Despite being chief deity she is not omnipotent and has an almost equal partner in Takami-Musubi, who rules heaven with her.
