Ambala

City and railway junction in northern India, situated 176 km/110 mi northwest of Delhi; population (1991) 140,050. Food processing, flour milling, and cotton ginning are the foremost industries. It is an archaeological site with prehistoric artefacts.

THE POLICE have been accused of looking for a " scapegoat" to fix the responsibility for the death of Ambala resident Sumit Verma during the Prime Minister's visit to Chandigarh.
