Reproductive organs of sexually reproducing animals, particularly the external/visible organs of mammals: in males, the penis and the scrotum, which contains the testes, and in females, the clitoris and vulva.

The term applies to people born with ambiguous genitalia or to those who don't identify with their physical sex.
