Amboise, Jacques d'

Amboise, Jacques d' (1934- )

US dancer and choreographer. He created roles in many of George Balanchine's greatest works as a principal dancer with New York City Ballet and is best known for his roles in typically US works such as Filling Station and Western Symphony. He also appeared in films, including Seven Brides for Seven Brothers (1954) and Carousel (1956), as well as television productions.

He is founder and director of the non-profit National Dance Institute (1976), based in New York City, which brings dance into state schools.
