Ambridge

Town in Beaver County, west Pennsylvania, USA; population (1990) 8,100. It is located on the Ohio River, 27 km/17 mi northwest of Pittsburgh, on the site of the utopian community Economy (1825–1905); remains of the original village have been restored. Modern Ambridge is named for the American Bridge County. It has developed as a steelmaking centre.
