Ameling, Elly (1934– )

Dutch soprano. She sang in Amsterdam from 1961, and made her London debut in 1966. She sang with the Netherlands Opera in 1973, but has most often been heard in lieder and oratorios. In 1959 she took part in the first performance of Martin's Mystère de la Nativité and has been heard in the cantatas and Passions of Bach, songs by Satie and Schubert, and concert music by Mahler and Mendelssohn.
