Songbird found in Eurasia, North Africa, and North America. (Species Carduelis carduelis, family Fringillidae, order Passeriformes.)

The American goldfinch (C. tristis) is about 13 cm/5 in long and golden-brownish on top and underside, with white-barred wings and tail.
