Amersham

Market town in Buckinghamshire, England, 12 km/7 mi northeast of High Wycombe; population (2001) 11,300. It is situated on the edge of the Chiltern Hills. Its main industries include the manufacture of cosmetics, textile printing, food production, timber haulage, and chemical and pharmaceutical research and development.

Edmund Waller, the poet, was born at nearby Coleshill.

Amersham Biosciences, the life sciences business of Amersham (LSE:, NYSE:, OSE: AHM), announces the addition of the CodeLink(TM) Human Whole Genome Bioarray to its CodeLink range.
A new study published this month in Proteomics(1) shows that two-dimensional difference gel electrophoresis (2-D DIGE) technology provided by Amersham Biosciences, the life sciences business of Amersham (LSE:, NYSE:, OSE: AHM), reveals statistically significant differences in protein abundance between normal and colorectal cancer samples that would not have been easily detected using classic 2-D gel separation.
The AKTA(TM)xpress, launched today by Amersham Biosciences, the life sciences business of Amersham (LSE:, NYSE:, OSE: AHM), at Pittcon 2004, Chicago, Il, is the first fully integrated protein purification system to deliver totally automated, high throughput, multi-step purification of His- and GST-tagged proteins.
