Ampère's rule

    0.03 sec.

Ampère's rule

Rule developed by French physicist André-Marie Ampère connecting the direction of an electric current and its associated magnetic currents. It states that around a wire carrying a current towards the observer, the magnetic field curls in the anticlockwise direction. This assumes the conventional direction of current flow (from the positive to the negative terminal of a battery).
