Amy, Gilbert (1936- )

French composer of advanced tendencies. His compositions show the influence of oriental music, total serialism, and aleatory techniques.

He studied with Darius Milhaud, Olivier Messiaen, and Pierre Boulez. He was director of the Concerts du Domaine Musical, specializing in new music.

Messe for soloists, chorus, and orchestra (1983); Écrits sur toile for reciter and ensemble (1983); Choros for male vocalists, chorus, and orchestra (1989).
