An Coimisiún le Rincí Gaelacha

    0.04 sec.

An Coimisiún le Rincí Gaelacha

First Irish step-dance organization. Established in 1929 under the auspices of the Gaelic League, it controlled the formal aspects of Irish step dance, including examinations for teachers, registration of teachers and competitions, and the gradual establishment of rules concerning the teaching, performance, and adjudication of the genre.

The organization has a monopoly on Irish step dance from a global perspective. Dancers from the USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, England, Scotland, Wales, Holland, and Africa may attempt to qualify for the World Irish Dancing Championships, held annually in Ireland since 1969.
