An Nhon

Town in southeast Vietnam in the province of Binh Dinh, 17 km/11 mi from the South China Sea coast; population (1990 est) 202,000. The town is a centre for silk production and cloth weaving. Nearby is the port of Qui Nhon, the capital of Binh Dinh province. An Nhon was the centre of the kingdom of Champa until 1470, when it was sacked by the Vietnamese.
