An Teallach

Mountain in Wester Ross, northwest Highland unitary authority, Scotland, situated to the south of Little Loch Broom. The summit is Bidein a'Ghlas Thuill, rising to 1,062 m/3,484 ft. An Teallach has 14 Torridonian red sandstone peaks, and is a Precambrian geological formation associated with the area surrounding Loch Torridon, which lies 38 km/24 mi to the southwest.

Its name derives from the smoke-like mists lingering above the slopes, the reflected glow sometimes observed after sunset below the main crown, and the horizontally-bedded sandstone strata, which together give the appearance of a colossal fireplace.
