Anagni

Town in Lazio region, central Italy, 20 km/12 mi northwest of Frosinone; population (1993 est) 19,400. Chemical, rubber, ceramic, and brick industries have developed in the Sacco valley below the old town. An important town in Roman times, Anagni has been a bishopric since 487. It has a 13th-century cathedral, and remains of a palace of Pope Boniface VIII. The tourist trade is being developed.
