anchovySmall fish Engraulis encrasicholus of the herring family. It is fished extensively, being abundant in the Mediterranean, and is also found on the Atlantic coast of Europe and in the Black Sea. | On June 24, the California Department of Health Services issued a
special warning for Ventura County, saying high concentrations of domoic
acid were detected in sardines and anchovies off the coast. Seafood, such as anchovies and shellfish,
was also consumed at the sites.

colorful entanglement of peppers, whose mellow juices helped neutralize
the saltier fish; the warmth of a tender scallop perched atop dried
