Andermatt

Village in the Swiss canton of Uri, some 25 km/16 mi south of Altdorf; population (1995) 1,400. It is a tourist and winter-sports centre in the upper Reuss valley (altitude 1,432m/4,690 ft), and is situated at the junction of the roads leading to the Furka Pass and the St Gotthard Pass.
