Anderson, Michael Philip (1959–2003)

US astronaut. He flew on the space shuttle Endeavour in January 1998 when it docked with the Russian space station Mir for the transfer of more than 4,080 kg/9,000 lb of equipment, supplies, and water. He was selected as an astronaut in 1994. He died when the space shuttle Columbia broke up on re-entry in February 2003 after a 16-day mission to the International Space Station.
