Anderson, Terry (1947- )

US journalist and hostage. Anderson joined the Associated Press in 1974. He kidnapped in Beirut by Islamic extremists in 1985, becoming longest held American hostage. He released in December 1991, and was described by his fellow hostages as a man of strength, humour, and ingenuity.
