Andrews

Town and administrative headquarters of Andrews County, west Texas, USA; population (1990) 10,700. It is situated 56 km/35 mi north-northwest of Odessa. A trade hub on the south Llano Estacado, it is in the centre of one of the richest US oil and gas producing regions. Long a cattle town, it grew in mid-century after regional oil began to be extracted.
