Andrews, Eamon

    0.03 sec.

Andrews, Eamon (1922–1987)

Irish television and radio personality. Born in Dublin, he took up boxing and won the All-Ireland amateur juvenile middleweight championship before beginning his broadcasting career in 1939. His affable manner made him ideal as a presenter of chat shows and children's programmes, but he is best known for the hugely popular and long-running This is Your Life 1955–87, in which he surprised celebrities by presenting them with a review of their careers.

Andrews began broadcasting with Radio Éireann, and subsequently appeared on various radio shows for the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC), including Sports Report 1950–62. His first television role was as host of the parlour game What's My Line? 1951–63. His books include This Is My Life 1963, and Surprises of Your Life 1978.
