Andricu, Michel (1895-1974)

Romanian composer. He studied at the Bucharest Conservatory and later became professor at the Royal Academy there, gaining the Enescu Prize for composition in 1924. From 1926 to 1959 he was professor at the Bucharest Conservatory.

11 symphonies (1944-70); 13 sinfoniettas (1945-73); nine orchestral suites (1924-58); serenade; three Tableaux symphoniques; Suite pittoresque; Suite brève; Poem (1923), and other pieces for orchestra.

Chamber

string quartet (1931); Novellettes for piano quintet (1925) and other chamber music; sonatina; Suite lyrique and other piano works.
