Andromeda

Major constellation of the northern hemisphere, visible in autumn. Its main feature is the Andromeda galaxy. The star Alpha Andromedae forms one corner of the Square of Pegasus. It is named after the princess of Greek mythology.

In 2005 astronomers announced that the galaxy is three times larger than previously thought, estimating it to be 220,000 light years across.
