Angarsk

Town in the Irkutsk oblast (region) of the Russian Federation, situated at the junction of the Angara and Kitoi rivers, and on the Trans-Siberian Railway, 50 km/31 mi northwest of Irkutsk; population (2002) 251,200. It has saw-milling, engineering, and building-materials industries, and an oil refinery. Angarsk was founded in 1948 and became a town in 1951.
