Ångermanland

Region in Västernorrland county, northern Sweden; population (1995) 153,600. The River Ångerman, over 320 km/199 mi in length, flows through the region to the Gulf of Bothnia. It is a wild and picturesque country. There is agriculture in rural areas; the main town is Härnösand, at the mouth of the river, with manufacturing and service industries.
