Angleton

Town and administrative headquarters of Brazoria County, southeast Texas, USA; population (1990) 17,100. It is situated 68 km/42 mi south of Houston, in the coastal plain. It is the trade and processing centre for an area that produces fruit, vegetables, cotton, livestock, rice, oil, and gas. Banking and seafood processing are also important.
