Animuccia, Giovanni (c. 1500–1571)

Italian composer. He studied under Goudimel in Rome, and was maestro di cappella at the Vatican from 1555 until his death. He was a friend of St Philip Neri, for whom he composed a series of laude. He also wrote Masses, other church music in a simplified style, and madrigals.
