anionIon carrying a negative charge. An anion is formed from an atom by the gain of electrons, a process known as ionic bonding. Non-metallic elements form anions. During electrolysis, anions in the electrolyte move towards the anode (positive electrode). An electrolyte, such as the salt zinc chloride (ZnCl2), is dissociated in aqueous solution or in the molten state into doubly charged Zn2+ cations and singly-charged Cl− anions. During electrolysis, the zinc cations flow to the cathode (to become discharged and liberate zinc metal) and the chloride anions flow to the anode (to become discharged and form chlorine gas). | Several other inorganic anions such as thiocyanate and nitrate that are present in dietary and environmental sources have goitrogenic effects (Greer et al. The acid must be sufficiently volatile so that it can be readily evaporated in the spray drying process, but to achieve this, the volatile acid must also be a weak acid such that no significant amounts of the acid anions, which are not volatile, may be present at the end of the evaporation process. Because I'm not attached to any organized religion, the idea of marriage isn't particularly important to me; civil anions are extremely important to me. |
