Aniston, Jennifer

Aniston, Jennifer (1969- )

US television and film actor. She became best known for her character Rachel Green, a spoiled but endearing New Yorker, in the popular television comedy series Friends (1994-2004).

After achieving stardom through television, Aniston launched her film career in the late 1990s with the light-hearted romantic comedies She's the One (1996) and Picture Perfect (1997). She received critical acclaim for her dramatic role in the low budget film The Good Girl (2002). Her other films include The Object of My Affection (1998), Rock Star (2001), Bruce Almighty (2003), Along Came Polly (2004), Rumor Has It (2005), and The Break-Up (2006).

Aniston was born in Sherman Oaks, California. She attended the High School of Performing Arts in New York City, where she studied both acting and fine arts. After appearing in television advertisements and on stage in off-Broadway productions, she moved to Los Angeles, California, where she appeared in a number of short-lived television comedy series - such as Molloy (1990), Ferris Bueller (1990), and Herman's Head (1991) - before landing her role in Friends. She was married to actor Brad Pitt 2000-05. Her father is US actor John Aniston, a former star of the popular US soap opera Days of Our Lives.
