Anne of Denmark

Also found in: Encyclopedia, Wikipedia 0.06 sec.

Anne of Denmark (1574-1619)

Queen consort of James VI of Scotland (from 1603 James I of England). She was the daughter of Frederick II of Denmark and Norway, and married James in 1589. She bore him five children, two of whom survived: Charles I and Elizabeth of Bohemia. Anne was suspected of Catholic leanings and was notably extravagant but seems to have had little influence on state affairs.
