La Halle Bridge, in the centre of Annecy, the principal town of the Haute-Savoie département of France.

Capital of the département of Haute-Savoie in the Rhône-Alpes region, southeast France, at the northern end of Lake Annecy; population (1999) 50,300, conurbation 136,800. Its industries include the production of textiles, paper, and precision instruments; there is a nuclear research centre. Annecy is the seat of a bishopric and has a 16th-century cathedral. It is also a popular tourist resort. The old part of the city has a network of canals.
